We love Google Analytics, a free service provided by Google, which provides website administrators with helpful statistics about a site’s visitors. In a world where increasingly more emphasis is put on online marketing through the use of social media and search engine optimization, that data can prove invaluable to those who are putting a big emphasis on their websites to help grow their customer base.
In a nutshell, Google Analytics (we’ll call it GA for convenience’s sake) uses IP addresses to track a website’s visitor numbers, provide the average number of pages viewed by each user, the average amount of time a visitor spends on the site as well as the percentage of users who are first time visitors to a site. It also offers users the ability to see how visitors were “referred” to their website; GA provides a percentage breakdown that shows how many users came to a site directly, through search engines, or through referring websites.
If this is your first time reading about GA, here’s a really helpful video from Google that we recommend you check out:
Beyond providing interesting information, GA provides crucial data when planning marketing strategies. For example, if you see that many of your site’s visitors have been referred from Facebook, that can help in deciding what to spend in ads for that site. If you see that not many users are referred from the major search engines, it might be time to revisit your search engine optimization strategy by creating new meta-tags and keywords. GA users can even see what keywords are effective and which aren’t right for a certain website.
We always encourage our web clients to utilize this valuable information tool; there are countless ways to use GA to your best advantage. First, we create an account for our clients to use GA individually. Then, because we believe in it so much, we create monthly reports for our clients as part of ongoing maintenance of their sites. Our reports use the GA data to provide clients with a snapshot of what happened with traffic to their site over the last month; we also provide data from three months prior so our clients can see if patterns are emerging over time (IE site traffic is going up or down). We also help determine what steps should be taken to keep the numbers and website effectiveness growing.
Google Analytics is a tool that could (and should) shape the way you do business online. We hope you find this tool as valuable as we do!
We at JPD Studio are very excited to announce the next Web2Fem meetup. Our fantastic guest speaker will be Law of Attraction Life and Business Coach Linda DeCarlo who will be presenting “Extraordinary Possibilities: How to Align with and Attract the Life and Business of Your Dreams.“
Jessica specifically asked Linda to speak because she has personally been an invaluable resource to JPD Studio. She was fortunate enough to meet with Linda earlier this year, and in just one consultation she pinpointed the areas in the business that Jessica needed to focus on. In her case, the answer was adding two key people to the JPD Studio team. Jessica says Linda pointed her in the right direction and has helped her take JPD Studio to the next level.
Here are some key items you will learn at this event:
• How to create a powerful road map for life and business success
• Four challenges entrepreneurial women face and how to move past them
• What the Law of Attraction is and how it works
• How to use this information to feel more grounded, focused and empowered!
This event, sponsored by JPD Studio, will be on July 30th at 6pm, held at the beautiful In Good Company workplace. IGC is a community workspace for women entrepreneurs in New York at 16 W. 23rd Street (right by the N, R, F or V train), on the fourth floor. Feel free to check out their website at: http://ingoodcompanyworkplaces.com/
There will be refreshments and networking before and after! Admittance to this event is $10. Seats will fill up fast so please RSVP at www.web2fem.com.
We’d also like to announce that the folks at Forbes 400 have offered Web2Fem members an opportunity to fill out a survey to be eligible for addition to the Forbes’ “America’s Most Promising Companies” list. To fill out the survey, visit forbes.com/promising. If you have any questions, please contact Marissa Madigan at MMadigan@forbes.com.
