JPD’s Kim Sall is a MoMA Designer!
Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

Our graphic designer Kim Sall has some very exciting news: her beautiful, fun holiday card designs are available for purchase through the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa)! The cards, which are a very cute 2.25 square inches each, include four of each awesome color combination (for a total of 16 cards), and are for sale in the MoMA Stores in New York City or on the MoMA Store website.

Kim developed the colorful striped tree design as a student at Pratt in 2005; an assignment in her Communications Design class called for the creation of a holiday card design that MoMA would sell as part of their coveted holiday card collection. Years later, while freelancing at MoMA in 2008, she discovered that she could submit the designs she had developed in the class three years prior. Out of thousands of submissions, the selection committee chose Kim’s design as one of the 20 artists’ cards for the 2010 season!

“I love colors, I love patterns and stripes,” Kim says of her design. “I had several variations of holiday themes, like Santa hats, candy canes and ornaments too. I got really into the project, and was really excited to submit.”

We couldn’t be more proud of Kim. The whole JPD Studio team is planning on using the cards for gifts this holiday season.

“I’m super excited and proud,” says JPD Creative Director Jessica Perilla. “I’m so happy to spread the word about these, we want them to sell out way before the holiday season rolls around. This is the card to use if you’re sending a gift.”

If you want to sport some of the coolest holiday cards around this year, head over to the MoMA Store online to grab a few boxes for you and your friends. And definitely hurry before the JPD team cleans ‘em out!

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Catalyst Competition

JPD Studio is participating in a competition for women-led start-ups, and we’d love your support! We think we have some great ideas and want to catalyze JPD’s visibility and growth, and this competition will help us do just that.

The competition, called the “Catalyst Competition — Awarding the Leading Women-Led Startups” is being presented by the Girls in Tech Catalyst Conference, planned for Jan. 26, 2010 in San Francisco. The conference aims to catalyze the career development of women working in high-tech. The event is hosted Vator.tv, a leading platform for innovators to broadcast themselves, and provider of news and information through VatorNews, and Girls in Tech, a social network enterprise focused on the engagement, education and empowerment of like-minded, professional, intelligent and influential women in technology.

Winners of the Catalyst Competition will present onstage at the Catalyst Conference to an audience of hundreds and a panel of experienced entrepreneurs and investors as judges. If we win, the opportunity will allow us to get feedback as well as the opportunity to present our ideas and the incredible projects we’re working on, and will help us expand and grow our vision further.

Please vote for us on the Vator.tv website, and help us get one step closer to sharing our ideas with other women-led start-ups! We very much appreciate your support.

Childrens Hospital Mural is Complete!
Friday, October 16th, 2009

The Finished Mural

There’s a little more color these days at Montefiore Childrens Hospital in the Bronx thanks to the efforts of JPD Studio’s Creative Director Jessica Perilla and the fantastic artists who participated in the latest Mural Project.

Over the course of three Saturdays, roughly 40 artists participated to help create the finished product pictured above. The colorful mural spans three walls and features the New York City skyline and some folks enjoying activities in a vivid, lovely green park.

JPD Studio is a proud sponsor of The Mural Project, which was founded by JPD Studio’s Creative Director Jessica Perilla in April 2007, and encourages artists to collaborate and donate their skills by creating lively, nurturing and visually stimulating murals in hospital walls to enhance healing for sick patients.

If you’d like to learn more about this cool effort, please visit TheMuralProject.com.

JPD Studio Wins a Gold Award in Design
Thursday, October 1st, 2009

Creativity Annual Awards LogoAt JPD Studio, we’re busy with a lot of things, but we’re also making shelf space for a new trophy; our site design for DANNIJO.com has won a gold in the Creativity Annual Awards!

Many thanks to Deb, who entered us in the Creativity Annual Awards in August. This year, the judges received thousands of entries from all over the world. The winners were selected by a judging panel representing 36 countries and 32 U.S. states. According to the folks at the Creativity Annual Awards, DANNIJO.com was considered by the judges to be an example of outstanding creativity and design. To receive the Gold Award, the site design must receive an average score over 5.5, a score only given to the top ten percent of entries!

Creativity Annual Awards will publish all winning entries alongside credit information in a 400-page hardcover Creativity Awards Annual. We can’t wait to see it in print.

Dreamweaver Instruction at SVA by Jessica!
Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

SVA LogoJPD Studio’s creative director, Jessica Perilla, will be an instructor of Dreamweaver at New York City’s School of Visual Arts this semester. Jessica has also been an instructor for the Dreamweaver course in Spanish these past two years as part of SVA’s “Hablas Diseño” program.

During this informative and fun course, Jessica will instruct students how to create a website with Adobe Dreamweaver, an intuitive and straight forward industry standard in web design software. Dreamweaver allows for the direct creation and editing capabilities of HTML web pages without forcing users to do any hard coding themselves. In this course, Jessica, who is an SVA alumna, will instruct her students how to save images properly for the web, how to use web-safe colors in design elements, and use Dreamweaver to create and save HTML pages. The course will begin with topics such as setting up and editing preferences, site definitions, text, images and links. The class will learn how to use tables, AP elements and iFrames to control placement of elements and links on pages. Other topics that will be covered include JavaScript behaviors and cascading style sheets (CSS); how to add short movies and sound files and upload the site to a server. Each student will complete a functioning website, which will be critiqued by Jessica during the last session.

The class starts this Thursday, September 24 and runs through December 17, 2009, from 6-10pm. To register please call 212.592.2200 or for more information visit www.sva.edu.

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Linda DeCarlo Presents at Web2Fem

We at JPD Studio are very excited to announce the next Web2Fem meetup. Our fantastic guest speaker will be Law of Attraction Life and Business Coach Linda DeCarlo who will be presenting “Extraordinary Possibilities: How to Align with and Attract the Life and Business of Your Dreams.

Jessica specifically asked Linda to speak because she has personally been an invaluable resource to JPD Studio. She was fortunate enough to meet with Linda earlier this year, and in just one consultation she pinpointed the areas in the business that Jessica needed to focus on. In her case, the answer was adding two key people to the JPD Studio team. Jessica says Linda pointed her in the right direction and has helped her take JPD Studio to the next level.

Here are some key items you will learn at this event:

• How to create a powerful road map for life and business success
• Four challenges entrepreneurial women face and how to move past them
• What the Law of Attraction is and how it works
• How to use this information to feel more grounded, focused and empowered!

This event, sponsored by JPD Studio, will be on July 30th at 6pm, held at the beautiful In Good Company workplace. IGC is a community workspace for women entrepreneurs in New York at 16 W. 23rd Street (right by the N, R, F or V train), on the fourth floor.
