Our graphic designer Kim Sall has some very exciting news: her beautiful, fun holiday card designs are available for purchase through the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa)! The cards, which are a very cute 2.25 square inches each, include four of each awesome color combination (for a total of 16 cards), and are for sale in the MoMA Stores in New York City or on the MoMA Store website.

Kim developed the colorful striped tree design as a student at Pratt in 2005; an assignment in her Communications Design class called for the creation of a holiday card design that MoMA would sell as part of their coveted holiday card collection. Years later, while freelancing at MoMA in 2008, she discovered that she could submit the designs she had developed in the class three years prior. Out of thousands of submissions, the selection committee chose Kim’s design as one of the 20 artists’ cards for the 2010 season!

“I love colors, I love patterns and stripes,” Kim says of her design. “I had several variations of holiday themes, like Santa hats, candy canes and ornaments too. I got really into the project, and was really excited to submit.”

We couldn’t be more proud of Kim. The whole JPD Studio team is planning on using the cards for gifts this holiday season.

“I’m super excited and proud,” says JPD Creative Director Jessica Perilla. “I’m so happy to spread the word about these, we want them to sell out way before the holiday season rolls around. This is the card to use if you’re sending a gift.”

If you want to sport some of the coolest holiday cards around this year, head over to the MoMA Store online to grab a few boxes for you and your friends. And definitely hurry before the JPD team cleans ‘em out!

We’re pleased to announce the launch of TobyAmidorNutrition.com!

We designed and developed both the logo and WordPress website for Toby Amidor, a registered dietitian with a master’s degree in clinical nutrition and dietetics from New York University. We created a fresh design using wholesome foods and complementary colors. Toby, a nutrition expert for FoodNetwork.com, can easily update her site via a custom content management system (CMS).

Check out Toby’s blog, Ask Toby, which features questions from users on nutrition and food safety. The site also contains a Media section, where Toby can easily update her television and radio clips, online writing samples, online and print interviews and books and DVDs.  We also dig her snappy Resources section, with links to great information about nutrition and health.

We love the site Dramabeans.com. This WordPress-powered blog is an amazing resource for news about Korean film and television drama, or “K-drama.” The content, the images and the writing by Dramabeans creator javabeans and her un-stoppable sidekick girlfriday are incredible. Now, this cool blog has a whole new look, a la JPD Studio!

We designed and coded a brand-new, custom template for Dramabeans. Features on the new template include a featured posts box on the homepage, where users can toggle back and forth between three featured posts, and click on the post to read more. Users can also comment on other users’ comments; a wonderful feature for a blog like Dramabeans, which has many active users who love to comment (you should check out the announcement of the new site design. Wow!).

If you’re a regular reader of our blog/tweets/Facebook posts, you may have noticed it’s been a busy month for us; lots of launches lately! This week, we’re pleased to announce the launch of a website with a cause that’s very close to our hearts: SameSky.com.

This custom-designed WordPress website has an ecommerce shopping cart to sell the beautiful Same Sky bracelets handcrafted by a group of women artisans in Rwanda. Same Sky’s trade-not-aid initiative uses jewelry to effect change in Rwanda – one woman at a time. Same Sky employs HIV+ women, all of whom are survivors of the 1994 Rwandan Genocide. These women artisans have been trained to crochet and make bracelets using unique hand-blown glass beads. They are given a marketable skill and consistent employment, the two essential factors needed to rebuild their lives and those of their families.

On the site, users can purchase Same Sky’s beautiful bracelets, read about and send messages to the artisans, follow the press Same Sky receives and find out ways to get involved in the movement of women empowering women. The Same Sky team will be able to make updates easily via the website’s custom content management system.

We’re pleased to announce the full, final, fantastic launch of MySocialChef.com, a brilliant food blog written and photographed by Petrit Husenaj. This custom designed and coded WordPress blog is comprised of recipes that will make your tummy growl and accompanying stories that will make you laugh out loud.

We love Petrit’s acerbic wit, clever observations and of course the gorgeous recipes for the dishes he prepares and photographs for his posts. The custom content management system (CMS) we created allows Petrit to easily upload the photos and posts himself – which is great, because we all get pretty excited when there’s a new post!

While we love all of the recipes that appear on the site, the JPD team has some stand-out favorites. Jessica is a big fan of the Swiss Cheese and Chocolate sandwich recipe, and you’ll know why when you take a look at the post; Kim loves the Single Ladies Mashed Potatoes recipe – oh my goodness, the sight of those buttery mashed potatoes on that red plate; and Krista would totally go off the “healthy eating” wagon to devour the Spanish Roasted Potatoes. Each incredible recipe and image is developed and shot by Petrit. It’s a beautiful and funny food blog.

We’re pleased as punch (pun intended) to announce the launch KidAvila.com, a new WordPress website for the fantastic champion boxer and trainer Jose “Kid” Avila.

This custom designed and coded site features amazing photography of Jose in action, an outline of his services, testimonials, press images and class schedules. Thanks to the custom content management system, Jose and his team can easily and quickly update the site when needed. As part of the project, we also set up and applied the site design to Jose’s Twitter page.

A New York State Golden Gloves champion boxer, Jose is an incredible trainer who works with folks of all ages and levels of fitness. He has a devoted following of clients, who have worked with him to get into great shape.

We are oh-so-very pleased to announce the launch of www.InGoodCompany.com, a custom WordPress website that we designed and coded. The site for In Good Company is an incredible resource for women entrepreneurs, making our involvement in this project just that much more special.

In Good Company is a shared workspace for women entrepreneurs located in the Flatiron District of Manhattan. Co-founders Adelaide Lancaster and Amy Abrams created IGC around the idea that shared workspace for women entrepreneurs can help alleviate feelings of isolation and allows members to connect and share resources to further the entrepreneurial efforts of all involved. In Good Company offers classes, resources and networking opportunities, among other things. Adelaide and Amy are even writing a book about successful women entrepreneurs.

The website is rich in content and dynamic. It features nicely laid-out information about IGC, its members, resources and what membership offers. Users can apply for membership, read about various membership packages and peruse the awesome IGC blog. The site is built using WordPress and is easily updated by the In Good Company team.

We’re proud to announce the launch of a splash page for Youthfulvigour.com. This splash page is up while we work on a full website for the company’s beauty skincare line, Rebecca’s Paradise.

We created the page to provide as much information about the product as possible, while still letting the photography of the product (also a custom job by us) take center stage. The end result is an eye-catching page that conveys the feel of the Carribean, where the inspiration for the product and its ingredients comes from.

The page also features a link to a pre-order page on PayPal, where customers can reserve their Rebecca’s Paradise products, which will ship in July.

At JPD, we love our clients. We work with folks from so many different backgrounds; big companies, small companies, start-ups and established businesses. They are artists, writers, nutritionists, fashion designers, lawyers, musicians, educators, bloggers and so much more. We love having such wonderfully diverse clients!

We want to tell the stories of some of our clients and share the work we’ve done for them. That’s why we’re starting a new “Client Profiles” section of the JPD Studio website. Here, you’ll learn a little bit about some of the folks we’ve worked with and why we created what we did for them. We like to think of it as a more “fun” version of a case study. We’ll be updating with new profiles regularly, so please keep checking back for more!

We’re pleased to announce the launch of a custom Facebook page design we created for Youthful Vigour, a fantastic skincare company about to launch the “Rebecca’s Paradise” moisturizer and cleanser line.

In order to create the image used on the Facebook page, we photographed the product and integrated tropical elements to create the sultry, Caribbean feel the product represents. We also wanted to showcase the ingredients, like brown sugar, sugar cane, grapeseed oil and green tea, in a way that lets customers know exactly what elements are contained in the products.

We’re pleased to announce the launch of the just-in-time-for-summer Healthy Competition: A Resource for Parents, a one-page website featuring HD video interviews of players from the Major League Baseball Players Association discussing the importance of leading a healthy, active life.

JPD Studio created this custom microsite for the Partnership for a Drug-Free America as part of their Time to Talk initiative. Through exclusive video interviews with Major Leaguers and dads Torii Hunter (LA Angels of Angels of Anaheim), Jamie Moyer (Philadelphia Phillies), Mike Sweeney (Seattle Mariners), Mark Teixeira (NY Yankees) and Michael Young (Texas Rangers), and strength and conditioning coordinator, Tim Maxey, “Healthy Competition” emphasizes the benefits of exercise and good nutrition and highlights the importance of playing fair and being a positive, pro-active team player.

Our goal was to create a clean, simple and well-organized one-page design with a eye-catching, dynamic and fun elements to grab the attention of parents, kids and baseball fans alike. Facebook is not only changing the way we interact with each other, but now helps us find out more about our favorite companies. That’s why we’re excited to announce we recently completed some custom designs for the Ouidad Facebook Fan Page.

Ouidad creates amazing hair products for curly hair; we took design inspiration from their logo and products, which made for a fun, challenging project for us; integrating the custom designs has improved the user experience for the Ouidad fans on the company’s Facebook page.

You can find our custom designs for Ouidad in the “wall links” on the left-hand column on the wall of their Facebook fan page. We also created the custom designs for the boxes under the About and Shop tabs.

The JPD Studio team of Jessica, Kim, Krista, Vita and Angel got to be glamorous (and freezing) models for a day when we were fortunate enough to be shot by the fantastic photographer Nadia Natario in Brooklyn, New York.

The shoot took place on an absolutely frigid day in January. We started the shoot on the amazing rooftop of Factory Brooklyn, where Nadia nearly froze her fingers off setting each of us up in front of the killer views and graffiti on the walls of the rooftop. We love the way the colors on the walls and the dramatic skyline shots really pop in the photos. We tried our best to pretend we were comfortable in the freezing wind whipping through on the rooftop, but it was definitely a challenge. Nadia’s poor fingers definitely needed a little time to warm up on the drive to our next location, the Brooklyn Bridge Park.

The Brooklyn Bridge Park served as the perfect spot for the second portion of the photo shoot, with stunning views of the of the Manhattan skyline and Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. This was the perfect backdrop for group shots as well as more individual portraits for our JPD Studio team bios. Even though we aren’t what you’d call professional models, Nadia was a fantastic photographer and made us feel comfortable while she brought out our true personalities in each shot. We ended the shoot and warmed up a bit with lunch at a cafe near the Brooklyn Bridge Park before heading back to the office.

“I think it’s a reflection of Sara’s personality,” says Jessica Perilla, creative director of JPD Studio. “We were inspired by the food and by Sara. The site looks very cheery, and she’s very positive and inspiring.”

Users can also check out Sara’s cookbooks on the website, including her newest, Sara Moulton’s Everyday Family Dinners. The website also contains a schedule of her book tour dates as well as a link to purchase other cookbooks by Sara so fans can be inspired to make all the delicious meals discussed on the website.
